Spread out in 770 acres, the Rockport State Park in Utah is a huge campground for fun and sporting activities. Its altitude is above 6000 ft and it's a dam as well as a reservoir. It initial history is very interesting, about 200 people had homes here until the US Bureau of Reclamation took it over to build the Wanship dam.
It has plenty outdoor activities on offer because it offers a beach, shore camping and a boat ramp. It offers Ice fishing in the winters and white water paddling, waterskiing, sail boating, hiking, biking, and swimming in the summers. There are 8 campgrounds which offer different facilities depending on whether you want modern facilities or a primitive environment.
One can opt for group camping, living in tents or parking the trailers besides the usual amenities but you aren't allowed to stay over 14 days at the site. The Rockport State Park also buzzes with wildlife where you can spot deer, jackrabbits, fox, racoons, and coyote if you're lucky.
You can go white water rafting or camping in Wasatch mountain range. The rocky mountain areas are perfect for picnics and the serene beauty. You can swim in the nearby man made lake or go to the golf range nearby. You can also kayak and take the panoramic view from the boat itself.
If you want to do something different then head to Heber city for its historic railroad. There is a 100 year old vintage railroad still in place. You can ride on steam or diesel engines and relive the saga of the past. The park is open round the year and is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. everyday.
