The Purple Sage is located in the old Telephone Building on Main Street with the building itself originally constructed in 1895. The restaurant features American Western cuisine in a gorgeously decorated main dining room. The Western theme is central in the décor, plus the use of purple sage to provide atmosphere throughout the dining area adds a soft and natural beauty. Custom made purple milk glass on the lamps provides a soft lighting to the dining area and the long, narrow room is decorated by full size western murals designed by a local artists, Wes Wright. On the second floor of the restaurant private rooms are available for meetings and dining events, with windows overlooking ski slopes and majestic mountains for a breathtaking view. Group menus are available and can be customized to meet the needs of the guests with parties up to 100 possible.
The Purple Sage serves dinner only, with the restaurant opening at 5:30 pm daily. The menu features anything but your typical Western fare, although there is a strong connection to the west in every dish. Some of the gourmet dinner selections include a smoked trout and arugala salad, veal meatloaf, cinnamon seared bison loin and filet mignon. Appetizers include a blue cheese fondue and barbeque chicken tamales as just a sampling. For dessert menu choices include a root beer float and a bread pudding the features cinnamon ice cream and hot buttered rum sauce.
