It also was once the home of the Olympic Games hospitality program. This is the Kimball Art Center in Park City. It is a not for profit art center serving the community since 1976.
The Kimball Art Center began its life as a livery stable before converting into the Kimball Brothers Garage in 1929. In 1976, the garage, no longer in service, became a center for the community. Its purpose was to provide an outlet for the visual arts in the city and to act as an education tool. The man behind this move was Bill Kimball.
The Kimball Arts Center has lived-up to its mandate. After the facelift for the Olympic Games, the Art Center became a modern showcase for the visual arts in the area. It features three galleries. They are the Main Gallery, the Badani Gallery and the Garage Gallery. All exhibitions change every 6 to 8 weeks. This provides a freshness to the Center. It also increases the chance of such groups as the Park City Professional Artists' Association and individual artists to display their work.
The Kimball Art Center encourages emerging artists. It also helps to educate the local populace about art. Furthermore, the Center sponsors a number of art events during the year. These include the Park City Gallery Stroll and the well-attended Park city Kimball Arts Center drawing people from across the state and country.
