For a really unique Labor Day vacation, plan to visit Park City Utah where the holiday has taken on a whole new look. Since mining was historically so important in this mountainous area of Utah, Labor Day has officially become Miner's Day, complete with a Miner's Day parade as well as exhibitions and events throughout the weekend, all honoring this historic industry. The Park City Museum is home to many of the various displays and exhibits, however there are events held throughout the city over the entire holiday weekend. Events vary from year to year but have included outdoor music performances, various types of family fun day events and even guided tours of the various historical spots within Park City and surrounding areas.
When in Park City in September there is lots to see and do, even if the slopes are not yet open. Families can plan to visit one of the five state parks that are a short drive from Park City, plus there are places to go fishing, hiking, mountain biking, boating and even horseback riding. Rentals for equipment are located within the parks or within the city if you don't want to bring your own. While outdoor events are popular over the Miner's Day Weekend there are still lots of indoor events such as shopping, touring through historical buildings as well as attending a show at the Egyptian Theatre or browsing through displays at the Kimball Art's Center. Park City also offers a wide variety of dining options from romantic, five star dining to casual family friendly restaurants and dining hot spots.
