Patriotic holidays are a great reason for neighbors and family members to convene and remember the wars of present and years past, as well as to pay tribute to the men and women who fought in the many battles. Fourth of July in Park City, UT celebrates our nation's independence with a ceremony and celebration which is rich in tradition. The day begins early and does not end until the day is dark. In the early morning, breakfast in City Park is held for all who would like to attend a special breakfast which is frequented by many locals and visitors in town for the festivities.
Overlapping with the latter hours of breakfast is the annual 3-mile run, which precedes the parade. If in town for the festivities and would like to participate in the 3-mile run, people must register before the race begins. The parade down Main street is kicked off with an Air Force fly-over from the local military bases. Each year a stunning display featuring state of the art aircraft flying in formation. For the lunch time hours, all the way into the late afternoon, bands are playing throughout the day while kids play games at various locations. Food characteristic of an all-American barbeque is on hand at several locations at the park to satisfy any food needs for visitors.
The evening and dusk hours brings people over to the
Deer Valley Amphitheatre for a selection of patriotic music being played by the symphony. Many renditions of famous patriotic songs used in movies are played along with favorite composers such as Sousa being featured every year during the independence day celebration.
