Olympic Site Information in Park City, Utah

Park City is a popular winter destination, offering scenic beauty and plenty of winter outdoor recreational opportunities just a short drive from the major metropolitan area of Salt Lake City. With all of these attributes working in the city's favor, it was not a surprise when Park City was selected as a hosting destination for many of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. On your trip to the area, you can walk through Olympics history by visiting some of the many locations that hosted the Olympics events in 2002.

The Utah Olympic Park is one of the largest venues used in the Winter Olympics. The venue was built specifically to host the 2002 Winter Olympics, and hosted a total of fourteen events during that event, including bobsled, ski jumping, luge, and sliding. The 2002 Winter Olympics drew in over 300,000 visitors over the course of the 16 days of festivities. Since that time, this venue has also hosted other world-class events such as the 2005 World Luge Championships. The facilities include the Joe Quinney Winter Sports Center, the Alf Engen Ski Museum, a day lodge and pool, a retail shop, a cafe, and more. With your visit to the area, you are welcome to take a self-guided tour of the facilities. You can also tour the facility with the Utah Olympic Parks Guided Shuttle Tour, which provides you a convenient way to explore the facility with full narration.

The Park City Mountain Resort was also used to host several Winter Olympics events, including the Alpine and Snowboarding events. This resort is open to the public and offers a world-class skiing experience with a full range of amenities. Lift tickets are available through VacationsMadeEasy.com. Not far from the Park City Mountain Resort sits the Deer Valley Resort, which hosted Alpine and Freestyle events in the 2002 Winter Olympics. You can have a great time at the Deer Valley Resort with its fabulous ski areas and facilities with lift tickets from VacationsMadeEasy.com.

Other destinations in nearby cities were used for many other Winter Olympics events. The Ice Sheet at Ogden was used for Curling, the Salt Lake Ice Center hosted the ice skating events, the 'E' Center in West Valley City and the Peaks Ice Arena in Provo were the sites used for ice hockey competition. These many venues are open today and offer you an inside look at Olympics history.

While Park City hosted a large number of national and international visitors, the area's restaurants rose to the challenge of satisfying their appetites. The Chez Betty Restaurant opened its doors in 1991, and since that time has been known for its quality cuisine and award-winning service. From escargot to puff pastry with garlic, the dishes at Chez Betty are of superior quality. Chez Betty was a popular dining option for Olympics visitors to the area. You can cap off your tour of Olympics history in the area by enjoying some of the same cuisine the Olympics guests enjoyed in 2002 by dining at Chez Betty.

Explore Winter Olympics history in Park City by visiting some of the many area attractions that played a part in the festivities.
