The Brighton Ski Resort first opened in 1936. The Brighton Ski Resort was the first ski resort in the state and one of the first in the country. Today, the resort offers skiers the same promise of an unspoiled, “no frills” ski experience amidst the scenic beauty of the Wasatch's snow-capped peaks.
The
Brighton Ski Resort is perfectly located in the Wasatch Mountains in the beautiful Big Cottonwood Canyon. This location, just 30 miles from downtown Salt Lake City, is easy to reach for visitors traveling by land and air. The resort sits on public lands in the Wasatch-Cache National Forest, unlike most other resorts which are located on privately owned lands. This means that, while ski lift tickets must be purchased, the resort must be open to the public year-round.
This resort is a favorite ski destination among locals and visitors alike. Brighton spans 1,050 acres and features 66 runs. The runs are designed for all experience levels of skiers, with 21 percent rated for beginners, 40 percent rated for intermediate, and 39 percent rated for advanced. The longest run, Olympic, stretches for an amazing 5.5 miles. Brighton features an extensive lift system including four high speed quads, one attached quad, and one triple.
While Brighton markets itself as a “no frills” resort, it offers plenty of amenities to make skiers feel comfortable on and off the slopes. Skiers and snowboarders visiting the area will delight in three unique terrain parks as well as one of the largest night skiing areas in the region, spanning 200 acres. Adults and kids alike can brush up on their skiing and snowboarding skills at the on-site school. The ski resort also offers equipment rental and repair on-site, several unique dining options ranging from snacks to full meals, and a variety of shops that sell just what you need for the perfect time on the slopes. You can even stay right on-site for the full Brighton experience at the Brighton Lodge.
